The great sage Vishwamitra arrived at Dasharatha's court with a difficult request. He asked for the young princes, Ram and Lakshmana, to protect his yajna from the terrifying demons Maricha and Subahu. Though Dasharatha was hesitant to send his beloved sons, Vasistha advised him that this was the Lord's divine purpose.

On the way, Vishwamitra taught the princes secret celestial weapons (Bala and Atibala). When they reached the forest, Ram killed the demoness Tadaka with a single arrow. This journey marked the transition of the princes into warriors of Dharma, ready to cleanse the world of evil.
