Adhyay 2 - The Pillar of Fire
Shri Shiv Mahapuran
Once, a dispute arose between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu about who was supreme. Suddenly, a massive pillar of fire (Jyotirlinga) appeared between them, stretching infinitely into the sky and the earth.
Brahma took the form of a swan to find the top, and Vishnu took the form of a boar to find the bottom. Both failed, realizing the pillar had no end. From the pillar, Lord Shiva emerged and explained that He is the supreme source of both. This manifestation of the Linga signifies that the Truth is beyond measurement and ego. It is the first Jyotirlinga that brought peace and balance back to the universe.
